IAEM Annual Scientific Meeting 2019

 

IAEM’s 2019 Annual Scientific Meeting will take place in the Clayton Hotel, Sligo on 7-8 November looking at medicine across the lifecycle, with pre-conference workshops on Wednesday 6 November.

The Circle of Life

Looking at EM at various stages of life, with additional nursing sessions organised by ENIG on Thursday 7 November and pre-hospital sessions on Friday 8 November, the outline programme for the 2019 ASM is below with the full programme available here

   

RCSI has approved the programme for 6.0 CPD credits on Thursday 7 November and 6.0 CPD credits on Friday 8 November.

We tailor the course around your requirements. Our course features an experienced faculty of international and local trainers, with the emphasis on hands-on, practical teaching in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

  • Full Introductory Level 1 ( US Basics, ELS, AAA assessment, Free fluid assessment)
  • Sign-Off Level 1 (Available only to ASTEMs or equivalent)
  • Advanced Modules (Cardiac, Simulation Moulage, MSK, Regional Anaesthesia, Lung US, Thoracocentesis, Shock and Hypotension protocols etc)

Water Rescue Workshop

Time: 1pm-5pm
Location: Strandhill beach, Sligo
Cost per person: €85

This afternoon pre-conference workshop will teach the fundamentals of open water safety and rescue in an exciting and hands on approach.

Peter Conroy, the course instructor, is the leading expert in open water rescue in Ireland.  He is a paramedic with DFB, a qualified wilderness medicine instructor and the founder of the Irish Tow Surf Rescue Association.  He has a wealth of experience in providing medical cover to surfers in some of the most dangerous conditions in the world, and he is featured on the ITV series ‘Rescue: river deep, mountain high’.

This half day course will be held on Strandhill beach, where Peter will cover open water safety basics, the prehospital management of a drowning and hypothermia, cold water submersion, and all the rescue procedures for a person in trouble in the water, including the use of rescue boards, throw lines and reaching equipment.  Participants will then get the chance to practice these skills in the water.  Finally, to wrap the day up, the participants will get a surf lesson from qualified surf instructors!  Wetsuits and board rental are included in the price.

HeartCode ACLS

Time: 1pm-6pm
Location: Clayton Hotel, Sligo
Cost per person: €230

HeartCode ACLS is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Providers Course most suitable for the healthcare professional that has successfully completed the traditional ACLS training in the recent past (< 5 yrs preferably) or has regular exposure to Cardiac Arrest situations.  [gdlr_accordion style="style-2" initial="0"]

Registration for all workshops is now open via exordo and workshop registration will close at 17.00 on Friday 25 October – book early to avoid disappointment.
