Humanitarian AidInternationally, doctors working in Emergency Medicine have been at the forefront of humanitarian assistance to assist less well off communities in dealing with various crises. IAEM has been a focal point for Irish doctors working in Emergency Medicine to make a meaningful contribution to improve the lot of those caught up in such environmental or other disasters.
IAEM members were prominent in the humanitarian response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake and GECS which was the brainchild of Dr Jean O'Sullivan, Consultant in EM at Tallaght Hospital has provided training across much of Africa. |
